It has been such a long time since I’ve last written in my
blog. No mood…no inspiration…no time…no money?? !! I think I have just lost the interest to blog
or I’d rather to read blog… or rather just an excuse for my stagnant mind to write…a
personal embarrassing shame for an educator who is supposedly know how to skillfully use her mind as a powerful tool
And then who unclogs my mind and makes me so keen to blog
tonight? It is my housemate, Christine,
my inspiration.
Below is our conversation (in Cantonese) a couple of days ago. It happened in the middle of the
night when I was flipping the TV channels aimlessly.
Xtine: Pink Pink, I
went for a ‘Ho Lan Pai’(poker cards) reading at Serdang
today.
Pink: Hah?? !!You
mean Tarot reading is it?
Xtine: No…no…no. ‘Ho
Lan Pai’ to play chor dai di or gamble that kind.
Pink: Oh oh oh…I see. Why did you go for the
reading? You wanna see if your boyfriend suits you or not leh? Or you wanna see if you still got ‘yan
yuen’ in the future?
Xtine: No-lah! I found that my life is not too well
recently. A lot of predicaments with my *jobs and working places…and these
people I’m working with seem to have bad-mouthed about me…and I’ve been struggling
with my business.
*Xtine works as Amway sales agent and beautician in daytime and as Carlsberg girl in a restaurant nearby in the
night.
Pink: Oh…then what the ‘Ho Lan Pai’ teller said
about you?
Xtine: He asked me to rearrange some of the stuff
in this house. I cannot put that washing machine in the *wet kitchen, as the
water (‘sui’ = money) flows away even before it enters the house. The pails
cannot put near to the door. The mop cannot be placed up side down. The Ikea plastic basket (to put plastic bags)
cannot be hanged on the wall. The dining table must not be in the middle of
living room…and then we have to put 4 dining chairs as there are 3 of us living in this house. If 4 ppl then 5 chairs.
*Our apartment’s wet kitchen is somewhat like a railed-to-the ceiling
balcony…I don’t know how to describe.
Pink: Wow…the teller so ‘geng’??!! He
can see your furniture arrangement just from the cards???!! Why 4 chairs for 3? For whom that extra chair?
Xtine: Not at all-lah. I told him a little bit. Dunno for whom…I didn’t ask.
Pink: Oh…why the pails cannot be near the door
and the plastic basket must be on the floor?
Xtine: I’m not sure about the pails but if the
plastic basket is hanged, works cannot be done completely also means ‘erm xiong
erm log’ or 5354 (in Cantonese).
At that very moment, I really wanted to laugh out
loud. However, I just kept it cool as if it made sense.
Xtine: And one more thing, I wanna hang two red
rags on the window in the kitchen.
Pink: What??!!! Red cloth as curtain?!
Xtine: No no no…small one will do.
Then I passed her a cloth (the one to wash
dishes ) with red stripes and said…
Pink: This one is red, can-kua!!
Xtine: Cannot-wor, must be really red.
OMG!
Xtine: I’ll ask my bf to carry away the washing
machine (it’s hers, I don’t mind), I can hand-wash the clothes. Can the dining
table be placed there?
She pointed at a corner of the living room.
Pink: Oh …I want to put sofa there. I’m gonna
get a sofa set very soon. Why not there?
I
pointed at another corner of the living room.
Xtine: Here also cannot…as the dining table will be
‘ngam-ngam’ opposite the front door.
Pissed!
Pink: Then put where?
Xtine: … …
Pink: I’ll talk about it to Kenny. We’ll figure
it out.
These are a few
rearrangements she did
